JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China has always adhered to peaceful development and an opening-up strategy of mutual benefit and win-win solution, Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said on Sunday.

Adherence to these principles and endeavor to build a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity are the solemn commitment China has made to the international community and the guiding principles for developing friendly cooperation with countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region, Xi said at the opening ceremony of a seminar on China-Saudi economy and trade.

A more open and prosperous China will bring tremendous development opportunities for the Mideast countries and contribute more to the peace and stability of the region, Xi added.

Xi highlighted three principles in developing trade and economic cooperation with Saudi Arabia, namely, adhering to friendly cooperation based on mutual respect and sincerity, striving for win-win cooperation characterized by mutual benefit, reciprocity and common development and going in for innovation and blazing new trails in further cooperation.

China has also attached great importance to its relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and will continue to boost the cooperation in all areas between the two sides, Xi said.

Senior officials from Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry said sound development in Saudi-China relations has given great impetus to trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Saudi enterprises earnestly hoped to strengthen cooperation with China and welcomed investment from the Chinese companies in Saudi Arabia, they added.

Saudi Arabia is the third leg of Xi's ongoing five-nation tour. He has completed official visits to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Mongolia, and will head to Qatar and Yemen.
