The 6th Plenary Session of the National Defense Mobilization Committee of the Jinan Military Area Command (MAC) and the Grassroots Construction Conference of Militia and Reserve Force of the Jinan MAC were held in Zhengzhou over June 11-12. Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission, state councilor and minister of national defense, attended and addressed the session. He noted that the national defense mobilization has a bearing on the national security and the overall situation of development, and for that matter, every level should bring itself in line with the requirements of the new situation and missions and see to it that efforts are made to boost the national defense mobilization construction in a better and faster way from a fresh starting point.

　　Liang Guanglie was debriefed by the Jinan Military Area Command, Shandong Province and Henan Province about their work of national defense mobilization, and inspected on site the Civil Air Defense Command Project of Henan Province.

　　Liang Guang pointed out emphatically that the Jinan Theater situates in a strategically crucial position, and therefore, shoulders heavy tasks of preparation for military struggles. For that reason, it is required to stick closely to its missions and tasks, make continuous and greater efforts in doing a good job in the mobilization and preparation for military struggles, beef up the basic building of national defense mobilization in an all-round way, build in real earnest a firm foundation for the mobilization of the people's armed forces, economic mobilization, civil air defense preparation and communications preparation, take the forces of various professions out to the field to train and steel them timely in light of the tasks and characteristics of the national defense mobilization system and in line with the needs of emergency handling, maintaining stability, disaster rescue and relief, the dealing with various unexpected social cases, in the meantime, stick to the principle of training and making the forces strong by engaging them in real operations, and improve every level's operating mechanism and the assessment standard systems for the sake of ensuring a sound, orderly and effective development of the national defense mobilization construction.
