Hu Jintao approves regulations to ensure military democracy

  BEIJING, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, has approved regulations on the duty of soldier committees.

  Soldier committees of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) are responsible for carrying out grass-root activities, promoting military democracy and assisting Party branches.

  In recent years, problems were seen in some soldier committees, such as incomplete organizations and laxness in fulfilling duties.

  The regulations are aimed to ensure harmony and purity among soldiers' inner relationships and promote the army's scientific development.

  Before drawing out the regulations, drafters have widely collected opinions.
