english.chinamil.com.cn 2008-06-02

On the morning of May 30 the members of the Italian medical rescue team who have been throwing themselves into the rescue and relief work in Sichuan came to the No.225 Field Shelter-type Hospital of the Beijing Military Area Command stationed in Mianzhu City of Sichuan Province for exchanging experience of disaster relief.

The Italian medical rescue team, under the direct leadership of the Italian government and composed of seven doctors, seven nurses and two government officials, constitutes a lightly equipped and rapid responsive professional team conducting emergency rescues both domestically and internationally. After the massive earthquake jolted Wenchuan, the team volunteered for rescue and relief missions. After their arrival, they have been treating 100-odd victims each day and successfully performed one neural replantation surgery for a patient who suffered three broken fingers in the quake.

Having heard of a PLA field shelter-type hospital stationed in Mianzhu, the Italian medical rescue team eagerly got in touch with it requesting to exchanges experience with it. In turn, the latter made a positive response and paid a visit to the former first. On the morning of May 30, the Italian medical rescue team paid a reciprocal visit. What impress the team most are the advanced medical equipment and orderly medical environment. And then they exchanged perceptions and experience for rescue and relief work.
