Liang Guanglie encourages relief troops to keep on working hard

  Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission, state councilor, and minister of national defense, arrived at the quake-hit areas in Sichuan Province on the morning of May 27 and hurried to the forefront to visit the officers and men involved in the rescue and relief operation. He then called on the troops to firmly carry out the decisions made by and the instructions of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and Chairman Hu Jintao, defy hardships and fatigue, carry on the spirit of working hard continuously, and fulfill successfully the rescue and relief tasks entrusted by the Party and people.

  On the afternoon of May 27, he was debriefed by the Joint Command of the Earthquake Rescue and Relief Operation of the Chengdu Military Area Command, and discussed about the measures to fulfill the rescue and relief mission with the people present.

  From May 28 to 29, he rushed to 13 badly hit areas such as Shifang, Mianzhu, Beichuan, Jiangyou, and Pingwu to inspect the conditions of disaster and convey greetings to the officers and men from the Chengdu Military Area Command, the Jinan Military Area Command, the Navy, the Secondary Artillery Force, and a hospital of the Beijing Military Area Command as well as the militiamen and reservists who are working hard to help the local people in the quake-hit areas on behalf of Chairman Hu Jintao and the Central Military Commission. He also inspected and inquired about the conditions of the Tianhe Central Primary School of Dongbei Town of Mianzhu City, the Xingchuan Primary School of Leigu Town of Biechuan County, and the Red Star Tent Primary School of Feilong Village of Sangzao Town of Anxian County that were built with the help and financial assistance of the PLA, and cordially visited the teachers and students afflicted by the earthquake.

  Zhang Haiyang, political commissar of the Chengdu Military Area Command and Liu Dongdong, political commissar of the Jinan Military Area Command, accompanied Liang Guanglie to visit and convey greetings to the officers and men partaking in the disaster rescue and relief operation.
