Xu Caihou calls for good news coverage and publicity on disaster relief

  Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), visited the PLA Daily, the PLA Branch Agency at the Xinhua News Agency, the Military Publicity Center of the Central Broadcasting Station of China and the PLA TV Publicity Center on behalf of Chairman Hu Jintao and other CMC leaders on the afternoon of May 18, extended gratitude and appreciation to the staff on duty and communicated with reporters working in the frontline of earthquake disaster relief through telephone.

  Xu Caihou stressed that all military journalists should further build up the sense of mission and sense of responsibility, make persistent and unremitting efforts, work harder to write more high-quality press reports for the purpose of creating a strong spiritual atmosphere featuring all the Chinese people closely united, working in one heart and one mind, and being determined to win the battle against the earthquake disaster so as to render tremendous spiritual driving force and public opinion support for and ideological guarantee on overcoming this extraordinary natural disaster.

  Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, and Liu Yongzhi, deputy director of the General Political Department of the PLA, accompanied Xu Caihou during his visit.
