Chinese president thanks HK people for help to quake-hit areas

　　MIANYANG, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese president Hu Jintao Friday thanked Hong Kong people for their help and donation to the quake-hit areas on the mainland in an interview with Hong Kong media.

　　Hu talked to the Hong Kong media in Mianyang, Sichuan province, where a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Monday.

　　Hu flew in Mianyang from Beijing Friday morning, to direct the disaster relief work.
