WELLINGTON, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The New Zealand frigate Te Mana began a five-month deployment in the Gulf region on Sunday, Radio New Zealand reported.

　　It was the third time the Navy has been sent to the Gulf regionas part of New Zealand's contribution to the international campaign against terrorism.

　　Te Mana joined a coalition of vessels monitoring shipping activity in the Gulf and started patrolling on Sunday.
