Liang Guanglie, state councilor and minister of national defense, met with
Babaoglu, commander of the Turkish Air Force, and his party in Beijing on April
14.
Liang Guanglie said that since China and Turkey established diplomatic
relations, there has been frequent exchange of high level visits, constant
enhancement of political mutual trust, close communication and coordination in
regional and international affairs, and smooth development of friendly and
mutually beneficial co-operation in the trade, economic and cultural fields. The
Chinese side appreciates Turkey's one-China policy and its support to China's
efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is
willing to further develop the friendly cooperation in various fields between
the two countries.
Liang Guanglie also said that the Chinese side holds a positive attitude
towards developing the friendly cooperative relations between the two
militaries, and he expressed his belief that through joint efforts of the two
sides, the friendly cooperative relations between the two militaries will be
elevated to a higher level.
Babaoglu said that the Turkish Air Force wishes to strengthen exchange and
deepen cooperation with the Chinese Air Force, and work together to promote the
development of the relations between the two militaries so as to make
contributions to world and regional peace and stability.
On the same day, Xu Qiliang, member of the Central Military Commission and
commander of the PLA Air Force, held talks with Babaoglu.
