GAZA, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Several Israeli army tanks and bulldozers backed
by helicopters stormed an area northeast of the Gaza Strip amid intensive
gunfire, Palestinian eyewitnesses and Hamas security sources said.
The sources said the Israeli army tanks and a bulldozer rolled about 500
meters into Gaza territory east of Jabalia town in northern Gaza Strip, amid
intensive gunfire. No injuries were reported.
The Israeli incursion came shortly after Palestinian militants launched two
homemade rockets from the area at southern Israeli towns. No damages or injuries
among the Israelis were reported.
The armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)
claimed responsibility for the rockets attacks, saying in a leaflet sent to
reporters that the attack is a response "to the daily Israeli aggression."
Meanwhile, Palestinian security sources said the Israeli army arrested five
Palestinians in different West Bank areas, including the towns of Ramallah,
Hebron and Bethlehem, saying they are wanted to Israel.
