TOKYO, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Japanese government may invite some
non-member countries to the Group of Eight summit slated for July in Hokkaido's
Lake Toya hot-spring resort, Kyodo News reported Sunday.
As Japan is considering highlighting the Asia-Pacific region in the summit,
it may invite South Korea, Australia and Indonesia to the enlarged meeting for
the first time besides China, government sources were quoted as saying.
Egypt, Algeria, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Ethiopia and
South Africa are expected to be invited from Africa, the sources said.
