Li Jinai urges to integrate personal life pursuit in the great course

english.chinamil.com.cn 2008-01-14

When talking with Zeng Manjun, commander of the Technical Battalion of a brigade of the Second Artillery Force of the PLA, and Li Changsong, deputy chief of staff of the Liaoyuan Detachment of the Armed Police Jilin Contingent, who are honored as two of the 18th "Top 10 Outstanding Youths in China", Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA called on all the young officers and men of the PLA to actively answer to Chairman Hu Jintao's great call to consciously integrate their personal life pursuits in the great course of the modernization drive of the army and contribute their wisdom and talents for building an IT-based army and winning the information warfare.

After graduation from the Harbin University of Science and Technology in 1997, Zeng Manjun showed no interest in the 10 million yuan of family assets and joined the army instead. He then took root at the grassroots level, studied assiduously the missile technology and has since grown from a civilian-university-student-turned officer into a new-type of high-quality grassroots commander of the strategic missile troops. He won the championship for 11 times in the 12 times of participating in the professional and technological contests, his scientific research and innovative results have filled in the gaps of relevant fields, and was given the honorary title of "model civilian-university-student-turned officer" by the Second Artillery Force.

Since joining the military in 1989, Li Changsong has been training hard to acquire the first-class capability. He had a number of experience of coming out bravely at the crucial time to put up a life-and-death fight with criminals who resisted arrests. In addition, he also had the experience of risking his life in fighting floods and rescuing, in emergency handling and stability maintenance as well as in fighting against wildfire, for which he was selected as one of the "Top 10 Faithful Guards of the Chinese Armed Police Force".

Liu Zhenqi, deputy director of the General Political Department of the PLA, attended the talk.
