Lao President Choummaly Sayasone meets Li Jinai

  Choummaly Sayasone, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, met with General Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, who was on an official friendly visit to Laos, and his party on November 26 in Vientiane.

  Choummaly said that the good-neighborly friendship and friendly cooperation between the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of China and between the Laos and China have been developing in an all-round and deep-going way. The Lao side will unswervingly support China's cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics and continue to support China's reunification efforts. Choummaly also asked Li Jinai to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Hu Jintao.

  Li Jinai first conveyed President Hu Jintao's cordial greetings and best regards to President Choummaly. Li Jinai then said that under the painstaking cultivation and promotion by several generations of leaders of the two parties and the two countries, the traditional friendship between China and the Laos has stood the test of the vicissitudes in international affairs and the relations between the two parties and the two countries have been constantly consolidated and developed. The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Lao side to continue to develop the traditional friendship and all-round cooperative ties with the Lao side in line with the consensus reached by the leaders of the two parties and the two countries.

  Li Jinai and his party also met with Lieutenant General Douangchay Phichit, Lao deputy prime minister and defense minister, and held talks with Brigadier General Sengnouane Sayalat, director of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army, during which the two sides spoke highly of the friendly cooperative ties between the two countries and the two militaries and indicated that the two sides would make common efforts and adopt active measures to boost the pragmatic cooperation between the two militaries to a new and higher level.

  Li Jinai and his party arrived in Vientiane on November 25 to pay an official friendly visit to Laos at the invitation of Sengnouane Sayalat.
