Chinese President Hu Jintao, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, meets officers at and above division level of the troops stationed in Hohhot, capital of the Innermongolia Autonomous Region on Nov. 18, 2007.

When meeting officers at division level and above of the troops stationed in Hohhot on November 18, Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, state president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized that the PLA should earnestly study and implement the essence of the 17th CPC National Congress and faithfully perform their sacred duties to garrison the frontiers and defend the country.

On the afternoon of November 18, Chairman Hu Jintao, who was inspecting the work in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, came to the Inner Mongolia Military Command, met cordially with the officers at division level and above of the troops stationed in Hohhot and extended, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, his hearty greetings to all officers and men of the PLA and the Armed Police Force as well as the militia and the reserve force stationed in Inner Mongolia.

Chairman Hu Jintao pointed out that Inner Mongolia is located in the frontier of North China and stands on a very important strategic position. All military units stationed in Inner Mongolia should set high standards on and do a good job in doing the preparedness for military struggles and managing and controlling the frontier defense work, and continually enhance the capabilities of the troops to perform their duties in light of the arrangement and requirements made at the 17th CPC National Congress in terms of the national defense and the army building. It is imperative that the troops are kept highly stable, centralized and unified. Great efforts should be made to further consolidate the unity between army and the local government, the unity between the army and the people, and the unity of all nationalities so as to make fresh contributions to the development and rejuvenation of Inner Mongolia and the construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
