BEIJING, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- A senior military official on Saturday underscored the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) over the armed forces.

　　"The People's Liberation Army under the absolute CPC leadership will guarantee the sound implementation of the Party's policies and guidelines in the armed forces," said Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC).

　　To learn the essence of the 17th CPC National Congress is of great significance to promoting the long-term development of socialism with Chinese characteristics, Guo said while meeting with senior PLA officers.

　　CMC Vice Chairman Xu Caihou and other CMC members were present at the meeting.
