The Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Public Health of the PRC and the General Political Department of the PLA jointly sponsored a public lecture on the outstanding deeds of Comrade Li Xiufang in the Great Hall of the People yesterday. Before it, Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, met the members of the public lecture team and extended cordial greetings to them on behalf of Chairman Hu Jintao and the other leaders of the Central Military Commission. Xu Caihou stressed that it was a must to model after Comrade Li Xiufang, actively go into the upsurge of studying, giving publicity to and implementing the essence of the 17thCPC National Congress, be guided by Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of the "Three Represents", deepen the implementation of the scientific outlook on development, hold high the banner, comply with the command of the CPC, press forward, work in the down-to-earth manner, and effectively implement the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period.

　　Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, was present at the meeting.

　　Ouyang Jian, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the public lecture. Gao Qiang, secretary of the leading Party members group of the Ministry of Public Health of the PRC, and Liu Yongzhi, deputy director of the General Political Department of the PLA, made speeches at the public lecture which attracted an audience of roughly 800 representatives of medical workers, teachers and students from institutions of higher learning as well as officers and men from the troop units stationed in Beijing.
