The General Staff Headquarters of the PLA held a meeting attended by cadres on October 24 to convey and implement the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress. Chen Bingde, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of general staff, emphasized that the Party committees at various levels should fully implement the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress, focus on the fulfillment of the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period, make dynamic efforts to boost the reform of military work, work in a down-to-earth manner in the preparedness for military struggles, and promote a better and faster development of the work and construction of the General Staff Headquarters of the PLA.

　　On the same day, the General Political Department of the PLA held a meeting attended by cadres, staff and workers of the organs and units directly under the General Political Department, at which Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, called on the Party committees, leaders and organs at all levels to take the study and implementation of the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress as the utmost important political task, do so earnestly with the high political sense of responsibility and high sense of mission, and do it well.

　　On the afternoon of October 24, Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, stressed at the enlarged meeting of the Party Committee of the General Logistics Department of the PLA that efforts should be made to combine the study and implementation of the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress closely with the research on how to resolve the important and practical problems of the PLA's logistics construction and reform, fully strengthen and improve the construction of the CPC in the units under the General Logistics Department of the PLA, and fulfill the missions of all-round development of modern logistics at high standards and sound quality.

　　The General Armaments Department of the PLA held an enlarged meeting of the Party committee on October 26, at which Chang Wanquan, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Armaments Department of the PLA, asked the organs and units directly under the General Armaments Department of the PLA to resolutely comply with the commands of the CPC Central Committee, the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu Jintao, concentrate the wisdom and strength on implementing the important strategic arrangement and various important duties put forward at the 17th CPC National Congress, and make endeavors to create a new situation for the development of weapons and armaments of the PLA.
