Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and who is on an inspection tour in the troop units stationed in Sichuan Province in recent days, emphasized that it should be made the utmost important political task for all the PLA troops at present and in the coming period to study and implement the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress. To do that, a study upsurge should be set off immediately with high political ardor, strong sense of responsibility and fine style of work in a bid to deepen the study, publicity and implementation of the spirit of the 17th CPC National Congress with which to seek unity of thinking and action of the officers and men, pool the wisdom and strength to make great efforts to accomplish various tasks entrusted to the PLA by the 17th CPC National Congress, and create a new situation of army building at the new historical starting point.

　　During the tour, Guo Boxiong inspected such units as the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, the Liangshan Military Sub-Command and a training base of the Chengdu Military Area Command, made site inspections on the armaments and facilities, visited the grass roots officers and men, and talked with the leaders of relevant units.

　　Xu Yaoyuan, assistant director of the General Political Department of the PLA, Chi Wanchun, political commissar of the General Armaments Department of the PLA, Li Andong, deputy director of the General Armaments Department of the PLA, and Li Shiming, commander of the Chengdu Military Area Command, accompanied Guo Boxiong throughout the inspection tour.
