4th World Military Games opens in Hyderabad

  The opening ceremony of the 4th World Military Games was held in Hyderabad, India yesterday afternoon.

  At 9:00 p.m. yesterday evening, Indian President Pratibha Patil declared the opening of the 4th World Military Games. In the loud cheers and bravos of audience, the Chinese military sports delegation clad in the 07 Style Uniform marched in steps into the stadium. Out of 13 events in the current games, the Chinese delegation, consisting of 220 persons, will participate in competition in 10 events. Chen Zhaohai, leader of the Chinese delegation, said Chinese athletes would compete with indomitable spirit so as to showcase to the world the fine image of the Chinese servicepersons and present outstanding success as a gift to the 17th National Congress of the CPC.

  In the coming six days, the military sports delegations from 102 countries will engage in fierce contests for 1,076 medals. The current games has 13 formal events, including boxing, football, handball, judo, military pentathlon, parachuting, sailboat (sailboard), shooting, swimming (including diving and water polo), track and field, triathlon, volleyball and wrestling, and several exhibition events, such as field hockey and Kabaddi. The current games is held in two cities in India, namely Hyderabad and Bombay.
