Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA, held talks with Brigadier Jules-Bernard Ouande, the
visiting chief of general staff of the Armed Forces of the Central African
Republic yesterday in Beijing.
Liang Guanglie said that the friendship between China and the Central
African Republic and between their two peoples has a long history. The two
countries established the diplomatic relations as early as in the1960s. In
recent years, the relations between the two countries have developed smoothly.
Liang Guanglie then noted that China appreciates the importance the Central
African government attached to the development of friendly relations with China,
and its adherence to the one-China policy and its support to China's grand cause
of reunification. The relations between the two militaries, as an important part
of the relations between the two countries, has been increasingly strengthened
in recent years, as evidenced by steady deepening of exchanges and cooperation
between the two sides. The Chinese armed forces attaches importance to
developing its friendly relations with the Central African Armed Forces and is
willing to work together with the Central African Armed Forces to bring the
friendly cooperative relations between the two militaries to a new high.
Jules-Bernard Ouande first expressed thanks to China for her contributions
to the development of the Central African Republic. He then said that Taiwan is
a part of China and the Central African government would, as always, adhere to
the one-China policy. He also expressed the hope that the friendly contact,
exchange and cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries would
be further strengthened.
