Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA held talks with the visiting Lt. Gen. Hector Hugo
Camacho Pauta, commander of the Joint Command of the Ecuadorian Armed Forces,
yesterday in Beijing.
Liang Guanglie said that since China and Ecuador established diplomatic
relations, there has been increased exchange of high-level visits between the
two countries, at the same time the trade and economic cooperation between the
two countries has expanded steadily. China and Ecuador have also maintained
close coordination and cooperation in international affairs. On the basis of the
sound development of relations between the two countries, the relations between
the two nation's militaries have also made good progress. The frequent contact
between senior leaders of the two militaries has helped enhance mutual
understanding and friendship between the two militaries. The Chinese side
attaches importance to developing the friendly ties with the Ecuadorian Armed
Forces and is willing to work together with the Ecuadorian side to constantly
strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the two militaries and further
promote the development of friendly cooperative ties between the two militaries.
Liang Guanglie also expounded China's principled stand on the Taiwan issue
to his guest.
Camacho said that the relations between Ecuador and China and between the
two nations' militaries have been developing very well. He hoped that his
current visit to China would further deepen the friendly cooperative ties
between the two sides and promote the exchange and cooperation between the two
countries and two militaries in various fields.
