Liang Guanglie holds talks with Azerbaijani counterpart

  Liang Guanglie, chief of general staff of the PLA, held talks with Sadkov Najmaddin, the visiting chief of general staff of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces yesterday in Beijing.

  Liang Guanglie, who is also member of the Central Military Commission, said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan, the relations between the two countries have developed steadily, featuring frequent exchange of high-level visits, daily deepening of political mutual trust and constant expanding of cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, educational and other fields, and remarkable achievements. This year marks the 15th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan, and the two sides have held a series of commemorative activities and summed up the achievements in the development of the bilateral relations. Liang Guanglie noted that the Chinese side values its friendly cooperative ties with the Azerbaijani Armed Forces and is willing to make common efforts with the Azerbaijani side to push for constant development of the ties between the two militaries.

  Sadkov said that Azerbaijan attaches importance to developing its relations with China, and he expressed the hope that his current visit to China would help promote the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and the two militaries in various fields.

  Chen Xiaogong, assistant chief of general staff of the PLA and Aliyev, Azerbaijani ambassador to China, participated in the talks.

  Before the talks, Liang Guanglie held a welcome ceremony for Sadkov.
