Liang Guanglie holds talks with Mozambican counterpart

  Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of general staff of the PLA, held talks with Gen. Lagos Lidimo, the visiting chief of general staff of the Mozambican Defense Force yesterday in Beijing.

  Liang said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mozambique, the friendly relations between the two countries has developed in a sustained and stable way and the cooperation between the two countries in various fields has yielded notable achievements. In recent years, the two militaries have maintained exchange of high-level visits and carried out sound cooperation in personnel training and other fields. He noted that the Chinese military attaches importance to developing friendly relations with the Mozambican Defense Force, and is willing to work together with the Mozambican side to further deepen cooperation in various fields.

  Liang also briefed his guests on China's foreign policy, national defense policy and the army building.

  Lagos Lidimo said that Mozambique is satisfied with the sound development of its relations with China and the relations between the two militaries. He expressed the hope that his current visit to China would help deepen the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries and the two militaries. And he reiterated that the Mozambican government would, as always, stick to the one-China policy.
