China vows to further defense co-op with India

  BEIJING, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Guo Boxiong, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, said here Monday China will enhance defense cooperation with India.

  "The two countries should keep expanding and deepening their pragmatic exchanges and enhance defense cooperation within the framework of bilateral strategic partnership of cooperation," said Guo.

  Guo made the remarks while meeting with visiting Indian Army Chief of Staff General Joginder Jaswant Singh.

  As big developing countries, the friendship between China and India will bring benefits to the region and the world, said Guo, citing good momentum of the development of military ties.

  Guo said the two militaries have the responsibilities to make contribution to generational friendship and common prosperity between the two neighboring countries.

  Singh expressed his hope that the two countries and militaries would deepen their exchanges and cooperation.
