Liao Xilong emphasizes proper handling of housing issue for retired military cadres

  Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, underlined at the meeting of handling the housing issues for the retired cadres of the PLA that the CPC Central Committee, the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu Jintao all attach great importance to handling well the housing issue for the retired military cadres. Therefore, we must enhance our comprehension of the issue, place stress on the prominent problems, treat all equally without discrimination, be truth-seeking and pragmatic, and push on in an all-round way the work of ensuring proper housing for the retired military cadres with profound feelings and a good style of work.

  Liao Xilong noted that as China's economy grows in leaps and bounds, the reform of housing system in the army further deepens, and the status of the retired cadres has changed, a great many new developments and problems have sprouted in solving the housing issue for the old cadres retired from the military. Liao Xilong then emphasized that the Party committees at all levels should pay high heed to the issue of doing a good job in ensuring the rights and interests of the retired cadres in getting proper housings, enable every retired comrade to feel the loving care and warmth of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission through thoughtful and painstaking work, and make sure that they can enjoy a happy and healthy life in peace in their later years.
