Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou, all members of the Political Bureau of the CPC
Central Committee and vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission, met on
June 10 military members of the lecture team on good deeds of the quake rescue
and relief heroes and models in Beijing, on behalf of Chairman Hu Jintao and the
Central Military Commission, congratulated the military members cordially and
paid high homage to all the officers and men from the PLA and the Armed Police
Force who have been working hard in the forefront of the quake rescue and relief
operation. Guo Boxiong urged the military members of the lecture team to be
fully aware of the great political and social significance of this lecture tour
as well as the great responsibility they are shouldering, give wide publicity to
the outstanding deeds and noble spirit demonstrated by the officers and men in
the quake rescue and relief operation in order to arouse their fighting spirit
and boost their morale to make greater contributions to the better fulfillment
of the quake rescue and relief tasks in the next stage and to putting into
effect the demands advanced by Chairman Hu Jintao on the officers and men to win
the formidable task of quake rescue and relief with determined resolve.
The members of the Central Military Commission, including Liang Guanglie,
Chen Bingde, Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chang Wanquan, Jing Zhiyuan, Wu Shengli and
Xu Qiliang, were also present at the meeting.
Guo Boxiong pointed out that an army of advanced units, exemplary heroic
and model individuals mushroomed in the massive quake rescue and relief
operation, who were represented by the 12 military members in the lecture team.
They have faithfully practiced the army's basic tenet of serving the people
wholeheartedly with their actual actions, and vividly displayed the army's good
traditions of not being afraid of hardships, shedding blood and laying down
their lives, and being particularly good at enduring hardships and fighting hard
battles, and for that matter, they are the models for all the servicemen to
learn from.
