Under Chairman Hu Jintao's approval, the meeting to make arrangements for the pilot program of the PLA's activities of studying and implementing the scientific outlook on development was held recently in Beijing.

　　Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, pointed out at the meeting that to earnestly and firmly carry out the activities of studying and implementing the scientific outlook on development is of great and far-reaching significance towards channeling the initiatives and creativeness of the troops at various levels towards promoting scientific development of the army building, ensuring uninterrupted progress of army building always along the correct orientation, and effectively carrying out the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period. The units assigned to undertake the pilot program should conscientiously carry out the program in a down-to-earth way so as to provide good methods, good experience and good ideas of universal guiding significance for the whole army to carry out the activities of studying and implementing the scientific outlook on development.

　　Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, presided over the meeting. Liu Yongzhi and Liu Zhenqi, deputy directors of the General Political Department of the PLA, and Tong Shiping, political commissar of the National Defense University, as well as political leaders of relevant major organizations attended the meeting.
