Liao Xilong: strive to enhance overall health level of the army

  

  The Patriotic Health Committee of the PLA held a plenary session on February 2 in Beijing. Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission, director of the Patriotic Health Committee of the PLA and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, stressed at the meeting that the army must adhere to the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, resolutely implement the decisions and instructions of Chairman Hu Jintao and the Central Military Commission and strive to enhance the health quality, comprehensive disease prevention ability, civilized sanitary habits and overall health level of the troops by focusing on the preparations for military struggles.

  Liao Xilong stressed that all the troops must do a good job of military health education and effectively control the non-battle casualties, make energetic efforts to enhance sanitary supervision and disease prevention work in their combat preparation activities such as military exercises and bivouacked training, and make vigorous efforts to grasp the psychological health work of the troops so as to enable all the officers and men to have a sound psychological quality and adapt themselves to the tough training conditions and harsh battlefield environments. At the same time, the army must also do a good job of battlefield casualty care, disease prevention and protecting against injuries by special weapons, and strive to enhance the wartime health protection awareness of all the officers and men and their preventive and survival capability under adverse environment.

  "Key Points of Patriotic Health Work of the PLA in 2007" was deliberated by the session.
