When meeting student representatives from the "August 1 Cherish- the-People Schools" yesterday, Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA highlighted that the entire army should uphold the fine traditions of obeying the command of the Party, serving the people and being bold and able to fight, actively participate in and support the national construction, perform real service and do more good deeds for the people, and make contributions for the building of a harmonious socialist society.

　　As part of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March last year, the PLA and the Armed Police force provided aid in the construction of 112 "August 1 Cherish-the-People Schools" along the Long March route, involving rebuilding or expanding school buildings of more than 130,000 sq. m, which resulted in improving the teaching conditions of a batch of primary and middle schools in the old revolutionary areas. These are the concrete actions that the military has taken to serve the people, which in turn have further closed the relations between the army and the government and between the army and the people, evoking strong repercussions in the whole society.

　　Deputy directors Liu Yongzhi, Sun Zhongtong and Liu Zhenqi and assistant directors Tong Shiping and Jiang Jichu of the General Political Department were present at the meeting.
