Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA, held talks with Pavel Stefka, the visiting chief of
general staff of the Czech Armed Forces yesterday morning in Beijing.
Liang said that the exchanges and cooperation between China and Czech in
various fields have developed smoothly in recent years, and it is in the
fundamental interests of China and Czech and their two peoples to further
consolidate and deepen their relations. The relations between the two militaries
are an important component part of the relations between the two countries. The
Chinese military attaches great importance to developing relations with the
Czech Armed Forces and is willing to push for further development of relations
between the two militaries in various fields and at various levels.
Liang also briefed his guests on China's national defense policy, the army
building and the things related to the recently published white paper "China's
National Defense in 2006".
Stefka indicated that the Czech side is willing to develop the friendly
cooperative relations with the Chinese military and, he expressed the hope that
the two sides would increase cooperation in the fields of military institutional
education and in fighting terrorism. He also emphasized that the Czech
government will continue to unswervingly adhere to the one-China policy.
