PLA Daily 2007-01-04

Artists from the entire army gathered in Beijing On Dec. 30, 2006 to hold a seminar, in which they summarized their experience in the creation and performance practices of literature and art in 2006 and had in-depth discussions centering on military literary and art innovation and harmonious culture construction. A consensus has been reached that the literary and art workers of the army should be the vanguard of promoting progressive culture, display in their works the new look of army building, express the genuine sentiment of the servicemen and greet the 80th anniversary of the founding of the PLA with more fruitful achievements.

Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, attaches much importance to and shows great concern about the literary and art work in the year of 2007. He sent words to the seminar and urged the military literary and art workers to be fully aware of the irreplaceable, educational and inspiring roles of the outstanding literary and art works, to go to the army camps and experience the true life of the soldiers in order to produce more excellent literary and art works which have the rich flavour of life and are well received by soldiers and in healthy and lofty style so as to make greater contributions to prospering the military literary and art, and boosting the modernization drive of the army.
