The curtain fell on "The Final of the National Knowledge Contest of
Caring-for-Girls Campaign" in Beijing recently with the PLA and the Armed Police
Force teams walked away with the first prize respectively. While meeting the PLA
team, Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission, director of the
General Political Department of the PLA and leader of the Family Planning
Leading Group of the PLA underlined that the army should continue to be at the
head of the whole society in family planning.
The popularization and contest of knowledge on caring for girls is a
national publicity and education campaign organized by the State Population and
Family Planning Commission in response to the call of the Central Committee of
the CPC and the State Council on comprehensively addressing the highly
disproportionate birth rate issue in favor of boys. The team from the Guangzhou
Military Area Command participated in the final on behalf of the PLA, outpointed
the other 37 teams from all over China and won the championship. The PLA also
won the Best Organization Award.
