Recently, Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, made a investigative tour of some navy, air force and second artillery units, during which he emphasized that the PLA should be more steadfast in upholding the great banners of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of the "Three Represents", thoroughly implement Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building, firmly foster and practice the scientific outlook on development in an all-round way, resolutely implement a series of important instructions of Chairman Hu Jintao and effectively carry out the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period. The Party committees and leaders at various levels should be keenly aware of their major responsibilities, earnestly improve their style of work and take concrete measures to ensure the fulfillment of various tasks with focus on the targets and missions of the army building, so as to push on faster and better development of the army building.

　　During his tour of the navy, air force and second artillery units, Guo Boxiong checked the progress of the all-round development in these units and their fulfillment of annual work plan. He also had informal discussions with the leaders of these units and went to the training grounds and construction sites to make on-the-spot inspections.
