　　During his recent inspection and survey tour in Nanjing war theater, Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, laid stress on the earnest study and implementation of the essence of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixteenth Central Committee of the CPC, and on unifying in real earnest the thinking and behavior of the troops with the spirit of the Resolution on Some Major Issues Regarding the Building of a Harmonious Socialist Society by the Central Committee of the CPC and that of the important speech given by General Secretary Hu Jintao, so as to turn the officers and men to firm supporters, ardent publicists and active implementors of building a harmonious socialist society.

　　Guo Boxiong noted that the fundamental demand made by the Sixth Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee of the CPC on the military is to render firm security support to the building of a harmonious socialist society. And therefore, it is a must to stick to the absolute leadership of the Party over the army, to push forward in an all round way the building of a revolutionary, modernized and regularized army, to boost the military changes with Chinese characteristics, to effectively fulfill the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period, to submit and to render service to the overall arrangement of work of the Party and the state, and to make new contributions in terms of the building of new socialist countryside, Western Region Development, ecological construction and environmental protection, the construction of key national projects as well as the fulfillment of emergent, difficult, dangerous and arduous tasks such as doing rescue and relief work.
