Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA, met with Florin Pinta, the visiting deputy chief of
general staff of the Romanian Armed Forces and his party in Beijing yesterday.
Liang stated that ever since China established diplomatic relations with
Romania, the relations between the two countries have been developing steadily
all along. The two sides enjoy mutual respect, mutual trust and equal footing
politically, and reciprocity and mutual benefit and friendly cooperation
economically. Besides, extensive interchanges have been witnessed in other
fields with fruitful results. Moreover, they understand and closely cooperate
with each other in international affairs. China appreciates Romania's consistent
stand on its one-China policy and its support to China's reunification
undertaking. Liang Guanglie noted that the Chinese side is willing to join hands
with the Romanian side to constantly push forward the friendly relations between
the two armed forces and make new contributions to the further development of
the all-round friendly and cooperative partnership between the two countries. He
also briefed the Romanian guests on China's national defense policies.
Florin Pinta said that constant enhancement of cooperation and exchanges
between the Chinese and Romanian armed forces are in line with the fundamental
interests of the peoples and militaries of the two nations, and are conducive to
the continuous enrichment of their all-round friendly and cooperative
partnership and to maintaining peace and stability of the regions and even the
entire world.
Deputy chief of general staff Xu Qiliang was present at the meeting.
