Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of
general staff of the PLA, held talks with Geremiah M. Kianga, the visiting chief
of general staff of the Kenyan Armed Forces yesterday in Beijing.
Liang Guanglie said that there exists profound friendship between the
peoples and the armed forces of China and Kenya. The leaders of the two
countries have maintained exchange of high-level visits and reached broad
agreement on many important international issues. In recent years, the ties
between the Chinese and Kenyan armed forces have been developing smoothly and
the cooperation in various fields has gradually been strengthened. The Chinese
armed forces attaches importance to developing the friendly cooperative ties
with the Kenyan armed forces and is willing to further develop the exchange and
cooperation in various fiends between the two militaries. Liang noted that China
appreciates Kenyan government's sticking to the one-China policy and its support
to China in international affairs such as the human rights issue.
Geremiah M. Kianga said that the Kenyan side is willing to further
strengthen the cooperation in various fields between the two countries and the
two militaries and push for constant development of friendly ties between the
two countries and two militaries. He also noted that the Kenyan government
would, as always, stick to the one-China policy.
