Li Jinai holds talks with Vietnamese guest

  Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the PLA General Political Department, held talks with Le Van Dung, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party, member of the standing committee of the Central Military Party Committee and director of the General Political Bureau of the Vietnamese People's Army yesterday in Beijing.

  Li Jinai said that China and Vietnam are amicable neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and the two countries have similar cultures, share common ideal and have mutually related interests. At present, the ties between the two countries had exhibited a good development momentum. At the same time, the exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries have also yielded remarkable results.

  Li Jinai also briefed his guests on the development of the political work of the PLA in the past few years. He said that in the new century and new period, the PLA would hold high the great banners of Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of "Three Represents", take scientific outlook on development as an important guiding principle, focus on the two historic objectives of ensuring that the army is capable of winning any war and never degenerate, speed up the military reform with Chinese characteristics in a deep-going way and work hard to promote a leapfrog development of the army building.

  Le Van Dung spoke highly of the experience and practice of the Chinese army in strengthening ideological and political work under the new situation, and he expressed the hope that the fields of exchange and cooperation between the two militaries should be further expanded so as to constantly promote the enrichment and development of the political work of the two militaries.

  Sun Zhongtong, deputy director of the PLA General Political Department participated in the talks.
