The reporters learned at the site of the checkout-intended demonstration of the support capability of military traffic and transportation equipment of the PLA wrapped up on September 13 that, thanks to the nearly 20 years of construction and development, the military traffic and transportation equipment have primarily formed two major systems: the military traffic and transportation support equipment, and materiel for traffic preparedness against war, which have further branched into seven lines: railway, highway, water way, aviation transportation support and field loading and unloading, rush repair and rush construction of traffic facilities, and transportation dispatching and commanding, thus realizing the leap forward of growing out of nothing and expanding from few to many, and improving from poor quality to better ones. As a result of which, the comprehensive support capability and rapid response ability of military traffic and transportation equipment under modern war conditions have been upgraded all-roundly.

Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, watched the demonstration of the support capability of military traffic and transportation equipment including such contents as loading and unloading for railway, highway transportation, maritime replenishment, and maritime unloading without fixed dock. Liao stressed in his address that military traffic and transportation are the lifeline of supporting the military operation. Stepping up the effort in enhancing the military traffic and transportation support capability is the pressing demand for getting well prepared for military struggle, the inevitable requirement for meeting the call of the national interests and maintaining world peace, and the built-in embodiment of carrying forward the building of modern logistics in an all-round way. The military traffic and transportation system of the army should firmly implement the decision and arrangement of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Central Military Commission and Chairman Hu Jintao, stick to the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, effectively implement the historical mission of the army and strengthen the building of military traffic and transportation support capability in great earnest.
