Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the
General Political Department (GPD), had an informal discussion with
representatives of the veteran cadres, who are also Party members, of the
General Political Department yesterday afternoon to mark the 85th anniversary of
the founding of the CPC. Li Jinai acclaimed the veteran cadres and Party members
as the precious assets of the Party and the military, and people of merits of
the revolution, and for that matter, the Party and the people will never forget
them, nor will the history and the army.
Li Jinai underlined that showing solicitude for the veterans, taking good
care of them and having esteem for them have built in the fine tradition of the
Party and likewise spell the obligatory responsibility for us. For this reason,
the political work cadres at all levels, especially those in charge of the
veteran cadre affairs should be concerned about and support the work of homes
for the retired cadres and see to it that the work is as well-thought of as
possible and is as perfectly done as one can so as to free the veterans of all
worries and make them gratified, and to make sure that the veteran cadre work
will move up to a new notch and achieve new progresses.
The attending representatives are all veteran cadres who joined the Party
in the Red Army period, Anti-Japanese War period and War of Liberation period.
They are not only old Party members with scores of years' standing, but
representatives of outstanding Party members in the new era.
Liu Yongzhi, Sun Zhongtong, Liu Zhenqi, deputy directors of the General
Political Department, and Tong Shiping and Jiang Jichu, assistant directors of
the General Political Department attended yesterday's discussion.
