Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission, director of the PLA Patriotic Public Health Campaign Committee and director of the General Logistics Department emphasized yesterday at the videoconference of the patriotic public health work of the PLA that the army should stick to the approach of taking the scientific outlook on development as the guidance, unswervingly implement the general arrangement of the public health work of the state, carry out the instructions of the Central Military Commission and further build up the concept of "macro-public health" and "macro-security" by centering on effectively fulfilling the historical mission of the army in the new century and the new period. Liao also urges the army to grasp the opportunity, keep pace with the times, forge ahead and blaze new trails, so as to achieve in the army an over-all improvement of civilization and public health attainments, environmental sanitation quality, living hygiene level and comprehensive disease prevention capability, and to match the civilization and public health undertaking of the army with its modernization drive and with the requirements of military struggle preparation, for the sake of upgrading the military patriotic public health work to a new level.
