Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently emphasized in his investigation tour to the Chengdu theater that the study and implementation of the concept of scientific outlook on development should highlight making greater efforts in deepening theoretical study, getting to the spirit and essence, being closely combined with the reality and doing a good job in all-round implementation in a bid to boost the quicker and better development of various fields of construction and all kinds of work.

　　Guo Boxiong held a discussion and exchanged views on such issues as strengthening the ideological and political building of the troops, upgrading the quality of military training and ensuring flight safety with leaders of the leading body of the air force under the Chengdu Military Area Command. While touring an anti-aircraft brigade of the Chengdu Military Area Command, Guo Boxiong went straight to the officers and men of the fourth company of the second battalion to see their living conditions. He even came to the soldiers' dormitory and felt their bedding to see whether it is damp or not and asked them if they could have sound sleep. When he saw the lineup of five computers along the windows in the reading room, he enquired after the application of these computers. When he came to the front of the fully packed bookshelves, he urged the leaders of the company again and again to turn the reading room into a real place for the soldiers to study. Then, Guo Boxiong came to the new recruits and talked about training, education, study, life and family with them. He told the recruits to study hard, be ready to endure hardships, get along well with each other and obey the disciplines. When meeting with the leaders and leading body officers of the brigade, Guo Boxiong raised four requirements: First, maintain full vigor; second, practice face-to-face guidance to the grassroots; third, spare no efforts in implementation; and fourth, foster a good image. After that, Guo Boxiong toured two scientific research institutes where he inspected the scientific research facilities and projects, asked in detail about the scientific research and personnel conditions and carefully listened to the comments and proposals of the scientific workers.
