Li Jinai, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department of the PLA, met with members of the lecture team on Ding Xiaobing's outstanding deeds yesterday afternoon in Beijing, during which he encouraged Ding to keep blazing new trails in a pioneering spirit in spite of the honor already attained so as to make still greater achievements.

　　Li said that Chairman Hu Jintao and other leaders of the Central Military Commission attached great importance to and showed great concern for the activities of learning from and giving wide publicity to the outstanding deeds of Comrade Ding Xiaobing. At the Congress of Party Representatives of the Armed Police Force last year, Chairman Hu Jintao cordially met with Ding Xiaobing and praised him for having created a perfect life with his disabled body, written a splendid and impressive chapter of a serviceman loyal to the Party, to the people and to the motherland with his unremitting efforts, and composed a heroic paean of contemporary servicemen. Thus Ding Xiaobing deserves to be called a model of maintaining the advanced nature of the Party members in the new period, and a hero of the Party and the people. Hence, to give wide publicity to Ding's outstanding deeds is of positive significance towards implementing the scientific outlook on development, promoting faster and better development of the national defense and the army building, and inspiring the officers and men to fulfill their historic mission in the new century and new period.

　　Li finally pointed out that the PLA and the Armed Police Force should make vigorous efforts to carry out the activities of learning from Ding Xiaobing among the troops and give full play to his example and guidance role. Meanwhile the media should further intensify their publicity efforts over Ding Xiaobing's outstanding deeds, and strive to make it more regular and seek practical results.
