The PLA logistics work conference held an awarding ceremony yesterday
in Beijing to award 141 important scientific and technological
achievements and outstanding scientific and technological workers in the
logistics field such as Wu Mengchao and others. Liao Xilong, member of the
Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics
Department of the PLA, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
Liao pointed out that the National Conference on Science and
Technology, which concluded a couple of days ago, had charted a direction
for logistical scientific and technological development of the PLA. The
logistics departments of the PLA must resolutely carry through the
strategic decision and arrangements made by the CPC Central Committee and
the State Council, earnestly implement the important instructions of
Chairman Hu Jintao and strive to improve the scientific and technological
level and innovation capability of the military logistics under the
guidance of the scientific outlook on development.
Liao emphasized that the PLA must build a modern logistics by relying
closely on scientific and technological progress, and must create a
favorable environment for scientific and technological development so as
to ensure the healthy development of independent innovation in logistical
science and technologies and work hard to bring independent innovation in
logistics to fruition so as to realize the grand goal of
information-oriented logistics.
At the awarding ceremony, Liao presented prize cup, medal and honor
album to Academician Wu Mengchao, and called on all those working in the
logistics departments of the PLA, especially scientific and technological
workers, to learn from Wu Mengchao and constantly enhance their
independent innovation capability and make their contributions to the
building of modern logistics in an all-round way.
The awarding ceremony was presided over by Sun Dafa, commissar of the
General Logistics Department of the PLA.
