Liao Xilong calls for promoting faster and better logistics support development

  

  At the meeting of PLA logistics work held on January 10, Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA, laid stress on being fully aware of the opportunities and challenges facing the logistics building during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, precisely sticking to the objectives and tasks of logistics development, substantially improving the capability of logistics support of various levels in implementing and putting into effect the scientific outlook on development, and striving for boosting faster and better development of the military logistics building.

  Liao Xilong pointed out that the key of achieving the objectives and finishing the tasks of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan lied in ensuring generating the logistic support capability for emergency operations as scheduled, ensuring making substantial progress in building modern logistics in an all-round way, and ensuring steady improvement of the level and quality of supply support of the troops.

  Liao Xilong underlined that the period of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan was an important opportunity for building modern logistics in an all-round way and therefore, the opportunity must be seized firmly and we must keep on boosting and deepening the reform of all-in-one joint service support. We must continue to implement the strategy of developing logistics through science and technology, start up the project of breaking fresh ground in logistics by applying science and technology with the priority given to technology innovation in the sectors of logistic informationalization, material support, military medical science, field operation survival, national defense engineering, energy saving and environmental protection, and others, and actuate the transition from the original pattern of logistic support capability generation to a new one that bases on scientific and technological progress. We must further promote the reform of the procurement system, enhance information management of procurement, establish and improve the scientific decision-making system, and constantly strengthen audit supervision.
