Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the
CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, Cao Gangchuan, member
of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, vice chairman of
the Central Military Commission, state councilor and minister of national
defense, and Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of
the CPC and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, watched the
large-scale modern drama Ballad of Loess produced by the Modern Drama
Troupe of the PLA General Political Department in Beijing on the evening of
December 20.
Liang Guanglie, Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chen Bingde, Zhang Dingfa and Jing
Zhiyuan, members of the Central Military Commission, watched the drama together
with them.
The modern drama Ballad of Loess won the only special honorary prize
at the 9th China Opera Festival. The drama has painstakingly created a moving
and appealing figure of a demobilized serviceman who decisively returned to his
hometown after being demobilized to help and guide his folks to cast off poverty
and to embark on the road of becoming prosperous, and to build new socialist
villages. The drama vividly showcases the blood-and-flesh relationship between
the Party and the people and has set up a good example for all the demobilized
servicemen to learn from in terms of retaining the true color of servicemen,
sharing the troubles and burdens of the Party, pioneering enterprises with
diligent work and bringing genuine happiness to the people.
More than 500 representatives of officers and men of the units stationed in
Beijing watched the performance.
