Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief
of general staff of the PLA, held talks with Antonie Gambi, the visiting
chief of general staff of the Central African Republic Armed Forces in
Beijing yesterday.
Liang first extended warm welcome to Antonie Gambi and the delegation
he led. He then said that although China and the Central African Republic
were far apart from each other geographically, the two peoples had always
shared warm sentiments. China appreciated the government of the Central
African Republic for its adherence to the one-China policy. The PLA had
always attached great importance to developing friendly ties with the
Central African Republic Armed Forces, and was willing to carry out
multi-level exchange and multi-field cooperation with the armed forces of
the Central African Republic. Liang expressed his confidence that with the
concerted efforts of the two sides, the friendly cooperation between the
two militaries would surely make new progress.
Liang also briefed his guests on the development of the PLA.
Antonie Gambi said the government of the Central African Republic
attached great importance to the friendly exchanges and cooperation with
China in various fields, and the cooperation between the two militaries
had also registered notable progress. The people of the Central African
Republic appreciated the long-term support and help rendered to them by
the Chinese people, and would unwaveringly support the Chinese people to
accomplish their national reunification.
Before the talks, Liang held a welcome ceremony for Antonie Gambi.
Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of general staff, was present at the meeting
and the ceremeony.
