Liang Guanglie holds talks with Pakistani chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee

  Liang Guanglie, member of the Central Military Commission and chief of the general staff of the PLA, held talks with Ehsan Ul Haq, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, and his party yesterday afternoon at the August 1 Building in Beijing.

  Liang Guanglie said that China and Pakistan have all along conducted very fruitful exchanges and cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, culture, trade and so on. The friendly ties between the two armed forces have witnessed constant development, the two sides have maintained frequent mutual visits at all levels and the cooperation between the two armed forces has continuously been broadened in width and depth. In the future, the Chinese side will, as ever, keep on making the utmost efforts in cementing and developing the friendly cooperative ties between the two countries and two armed forces. Liang Guanglie also exchanged views with Ehsan Ul Haq on issues of common concern such as international and regional situations and army building.

  Ehsan said that the Chinese people are good friends, good brothers and good neighbors. While the two countries are carrying out friendly contacts, friendly cooperative ties between the two armed forces have equally been constantly burgeoning. The objective of this visit is to further deepen mutual understanding, learn from each other and boost bilateral cooperation.

  Ehsan was invited by Liang Guanglie to make this formal and good-will visit to China since September 10.
