Yesterday afternoon, Liang Guanglie, deputy head of the Central Delegation
taking part in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the
founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region, member of the Central Military
Commission and chief of the general staff of the PLA, visited the grassroots
officers and men of a motorized infantry regiment stationed in Tibet, asked
about the troops building of the 1st Company of the 1st
Battalion of the regiment and held informal discussions with the officers and
men. Liang emphasized that the troops stationed in Tibet should bear the
historic mission in mind, get a clear understanding of their position and role,
and make vigorous efforts to do a good job in the overall construction of the
troops.
Members of the Central Delegation such as Tang Tianbiao, deputy director of
the General Political Department of the PLA, and Wang Jianmin, commander of the
Chengdu Military Area Command, accompanied Liang on his visit to the officers
and men.
