　　Guo Boxiong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, stressed when he met with the representatives attending the PLA seminar on intensive study and implementation of Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building yesterday that, the officers and men of the whole army should earnestly study and act on Jiang Zemin's thinking on national defense and army building, resolutely carry out a series of important instructions on army building by Chairman Hu Jintao, and firmly establish and implement a scientific outlook on development. Guo Boxiong urged the officers and men to bestir themselves, devote whole-heartedly to their duties, work hard with pioneering and innovative spirit and constantly enhance their ability to fulfill the historic mission for the new century and new period so as to make due contributions to safeguarding the national security and reunification, and to building a well-off society in an all-round way.

　　Cao Gangchuan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, state councilor and national defense minister, also took part in the meeting. Xu Caihou, member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission gave a speech at the meeting.

　　Other members of the Central Military Commission taking part in the meeting are Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chen Bingde, Qiao Qingchen, Zhang Dingfa and Jing Zhiyuan.
