A working conference on traditional Chinese medical work in the army
was held in Beijing yesterday. Liao Xilong, member of the Central Military
Commission and director of the General Logistics Department of the PLA stressed
at the conference that traditional Chinese medical work in the army bears close
relationships with the development of China's traditional medicine, the health
of all the officers and men of the army as well as the realization of "adequate
logistics support" in the army. Thus we must grasp the opportunity, bestir
ourselves, overcome various difficulties, and strive to create a new situation
for traditional Chinese medical work in the army.
Liao Xilong gave high praise to the role the traditional Chinese medical
work has played in keeping the health of officers and men and in promoting the
fighting capacity of the army. He emphasized that the traditional Chinese
medical work in the army in the near future should stick to the principle of
"laying equal stress to both traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine",
and should face the needs of the troops and combat readiness. He urged the army
to combine inheritance with innovations, popularization with elevation, and
quality with efficiency in traditional Chinese medial work, so as to upgrade the
overall level of the transitional Chinese medicine in the army.
